NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7676 ? Pourquoi une version aussi ancienne (la version actuelle est la 1.0-9746) ?

Le problème que vous décrivez est connu lorsqu'on a un noyau >= 2.6.15-rc5 et des anciens drivers nvidia.

ils mettent à dispo la 8776.

Il te faut activer le dépôt non-free, ajoute "non-free" à la fin des lignes de /etc/apt/sources.list pour obtenir un truc du genre :

deb http://ftp2.fr.debian.org/debian/ etch main contrib non-free
deb-src http://ftp2.fr.debian.org/debian/ etch main contrib non-free

Tu pourras alors installer facilement le driver nvidia :
aptitude install nvidia-glx nvidia-kernel-2.6-(486|k7|686|amd64)

  apparement ça pas mal avec celui-là.

  ps: petit HS; le noyeau 686 ne fonctionne pas sur mon pentium M, j'ai installer un 486 et ça va plutot pas mal.
  question : - il n'y a pas de 386 sous debian Etch ?
  - a quoi correspond le 486 ?

    a une machine de type 486 ...
    le 586 c est le pentium première génération
    et me 686 c'est en gros à partir du pentium 2
    
    en gros une copilation pour 686 mettra en place toute les routine qui fonctionne sur l ensemble des processeur 686 et le rendra donc un peu plus performant sur ces machine mais l'empechera de fonctionner sur un CPU inférieur. Vu que la perte est pas monstrueuse et que très peut de paquet sont compiler sur debian pour plus qu'une architecture 486, ça ne te changera pas grand chose et tu dois perdre presque rien en puissance.
    
    Bon après si tu veux gagner 2s a la compilation d'un kernel tu peux toujours recompiler tout ton système ou utiliser gentoo mais je trouve que c'est pas une très bonne idée personnellement.

    Je ne sais pas si j'ai été très clair : avec les paquets debian, tu n'as plus besoin de télécharger le driver sur le site de nvidia.

      en fait entre-temps un gars m'a filé le bon driver sur irc, mais t'avais été clair sur les depots ;)
